Dr. David Gosse

Looking for solutions to these life problems?

  • A bad mood that won’t go away, or is getting worse.
  • Worries or fears that are holding you back in life, and making you miserable.
  • A troubled relationship.
  • Challenges or setbacks that you don’t know how to handle.
  • You want to improve some part of your life but feel stuck.

If so, I’m here to help.

Is Your Life Caught Up In a Storm?

Life can be easy when things are going your way.

But sooner or later you’ll have to deal with setbacks.  These can include losses, disappointments, and failures.

As the poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow once said, “Into each life, some rain must fall.”

When you’re dealing with a little “rain” in your life, you may be able to cope with it on your own or with the help of friends and family.

But what if you’re in the middle of a storm?

Wouldn’t it be nice if life only gave you challenges you could handle, if it gave you any challenges at all?  But life doesn’t always work that way.

When you’re facing one or more challenges you don’t know how to cope with, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and stuck – maybe even hopeless.

“Storms” in life take many forms.

Some storms are emotional, when you get battered by moods like depression, hopelessness, anxiety or anger. At such times your mind gets flooded with upsetting thoughts.

Some storms are relational.  You may have an ongoing conflict with someone that you just can’t resolve.  Maybe you’re going through a breakup, divorce, or the death of a loved one.  Or maybe shyness or loneliness are challenging for you.

As if that’s not enough, there are also the challenges of everyday life, incluing job stress, financial struggles, and health concerns – just to name a few.

When difficulties such as these last for extended periods of time, they can be like gloomy, cloudy weather in your life that blocks out the sun.  If your current challenges are intense, it may even feel like you’re caught up in a hurricane.

Are you wondering if it’s time to get help?

Counseling Can Show You How to Weather the Storm and Overcome It

Despite your best efforts, you may not know how to deal with your current challenges. Your old ways of handling things may have worked in the past, but are not enough to face what you’re up against right now.

If so, I have good news: as stuck as you may feel right now, there is a way out.  You may not see it right now, but that doesn’t mean it’s not there.  You just need a guide to help you find the way out of the woods.

If this sounds like you, professional counseling can help you get from where you are now to where you want to be – and show you how to keep it that way.

If you’re willing to learn and practice some new skills, I can show you how to become your own therapist.

In our work together, you’ll develop tools to overcome whatever you’re going through right now.

The tools you will learn in counseling will also help you deal with challenging situations in the future, and they will only become more effective over time as you practice them.

Get on the Road to Recovery Today

My counseling approach enables you to understand why you are stuck and what you can do about it.

I use research-based treatment techniques that don’t involve medication or prolonged therapy.  And you can learn these skills yourself if you’re willing to work at it.

Working together, we can get you out of the rut you’re in and on the road to recovery – in less time than you might think.

I specialize in helping people overcome the following challenges:

Sadness, discouragement, low self-esteem, and loss of motivation are some of the hallmarks of depression.

Sometimes depression occurs after a setback in your life.  Other times there is no apparent trigger.

Either way, depression is a very treatable condition that responds well to research-based, professional counseling.

Anxiety comes in many forms – including chronic worry, fear and panic attacks to name just a few.

When left unchecked, anxiety can ruin your quality of life and make you miserable.

Like depression, however, it is also a very treatable condition that can be overcome with practical coping skills.

Relationships can be one of life’s greatest joys when they are going well.  But they can also be a significant source of pain when they are not going well.

Relationships can be strained by unresolved conflict, poor communication, or lack of connection.

Learning the secrets of effective communication can turn your troubled relationship around by reducing tension and bridging the gap between you and the person you’re at odds with.

Stress Management

When you’re going through a rough patch that is more than you can handle right now, stress can get the best of you.

In turn, overwhelming stress can lead to emotional and relational problems, making your situation all the more difficult.

Professional counseling can show you how to work through the struggles you’re going through and get to the other side.

Personal Growth Counseling

Do you already have a good life, but want to make it better?

If you would like to take some aspect of your life to the next level but don’t know how to get there, personal growth counseling can help you get there.

Christian Counseling

Perhaps you are struggling with one or more of the challenges mentioned above, and are also struggling with your faith.

If so, you can learn new skills that are consistent with your beliefs to help you get through your current hardships and strengthen your faith in the process.

Learn How to Live the Life You Want

Are you looking for a counseling approach that is more than just talking about your problems?

Instead, would you like to learn some practical and useful skills to overcome your current struggles?

Would you like to make changes as quickly as possible, so that you can get on with your life – but with a better set of tools?

Are you willing to work at making these changes?

If so, we would probably be a good fit.  Even better, recovery from your current challenges is just around the corner.

But it can be challenging to reach out for help.  It can be even harder to find someone you trust and also has the knowledge and experience to help you overcome your difficulties.
